A.K.A.  Mr. Handel, Jeff, Bucketboy, Qtip, Mr. Tipp, Handelor Senior, Coach, as well as more colorful terms.

Jeff is an Associate Band Director and the Percussion Instructor at Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, SC.  His main duties include teaching the percussion ensembles,  and leading the jazz band, among other musical duties.  His talents are also employed on a weekly basis as a monitor while on lunch duty.

Before he began teaching Wando, Jeff was the percussionist for the Dallas Brass, where he toured throughout the US through the school year, performing clinics for elementary through college students, and nearly 100 concerts each season.  His personal highlights of each concert included xylophone solos and a Gene Krupa inspired drum solo.  Whenever his teaching schedule allows any free time, Jeff can be found at home with his wife Cameron in Charleston, SC, playing with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the Charleston Jewish Jazz Ensemble, freelancing in and around the Charleston area, or on tour with the band Sol Driven Train playing percussion, keyboards, accordion and Keytar.

Jeff received his education at Indiana University, where he received his Bachelor's of Music Education as well as a Performer's Certificate.  While at IU, he instructed the Indiana University Marching Hundred Drumline and served as an Associate Instructor of Percussion.  In addition, he has served as a percussion instructor for elementary, middle, high school and college levels, and he has worked with several award winning groups around the country, as well as the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps.  Jeff’s foundation in marching percussion led to performances with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, Star of Indiana’s Brass Theater, and several US and Japanese tours with the shows Blast! and Blast II: M.I.X..

Jeff is a true jack of all trades when it comes to percussion.  His favorite instruments to play are "whatever I'm playing at that moment", and he has seen success in all areas.  Drumset, hand percussion and keyboards in several performing rock and jazz bands, mallet and concert percussion in college and post college performing experiences, and all facets of percussion while touring with Dallas Brass and Blast!

Jeff is available (when time permits) for private lessons, clinics, group or solo live performance, studio work, and arrangement / composition.

Hear Jeff play on Peal’s Beautiful Baby Elephant, Sol Driven Train’s Believe, and Dallas Brass’ American Musical Journey

Jeff plays Sabian Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets and Evans Drumheads exclusively.
